1) How do Exodus teams work?
Before travelling, each Exodus team meets regularly to work through a ‘360 Adventure' course which includes, getting to know your team mates, having time for discussion, fellowship, fundraising and a residential.
When it comes to July or August your team will travel to their summer project in with one of our partners around the world.
2) Where & when do teams meet
Teams meet every week (with a few, short breaks possible for holidays and exams) starting the 2nd week of February. This year we have teams based in our Coleraine and Lisburn centres and in Belfast, Donegal and L'Derry.
Team meetings will generally be held in the evenings and will last about 2 hours.
3) What is the 360 Adventure?
The 360 Adventure provides groups of young people with an opportunity to grow personally and spiritually. Each team follow one of 4 courses each of which caters for young people at a different age and stage. A summary of each course is available here.
4) What is the Personal Contribution
A contribution made by each team member which will secure a place on the team. This is determined by:
- Travel Costs,
- How long you stay
- The type of work you will be involved in.
Fundraising Target
Group members are encouraged to get involved in personal and group fundraising activities with the aim of each team trying to raise £300-£400 per person.
5) What if I cannot afford the personal contribution?
A bursary scheme is available for those who may struggle with the personal contribution. Individuals who may require a bursary are advised to apply for teams with a lower personal contribution.
6) How do I join a team?
- Pick out the location(s) for team meetings that you can attend.
- Choose the 360 Adventure course which best suits you.
- Select your preferred project destinations for that course.
- Check that the meeting night and project dates suit you.
- Fill in the application form as soon as possible.
7) When should I apply?
The sooner the better! - Once the team details are released in early January all teams are open to applications until midnight on the last Wednesday in January. After that date applicants will start to be accepted onto teams and those applying may experience availability problems. Once a team is filled it will be marked closed. All teams are generally closed by the end of February.
8) How can I get more information?
- Come a Launch Night to get more details and to meet the Exodus staff and team leaders.
- Contact a member of staff - Coleraine 028 703 44563 Lisburn 028 92 661220.
9)How does Exodus decide who will get onto a team?
We work hard to try to ensure that everyone who applies ends up on a team. However, sometimes a team will be oversubscribed or an applicant may not be suited to the options they have chosen.
In these cases preference will be given to applicants who we feel would benefit most from the course, have not previously done a team using that course , have volunteered in Exodus, have skills relating to the specific placement e.g. music or sports. Applications between groups of friends will be considered in light of the potential impact on the wider team.
