Christmas and New Year's Banter
Now that we're into a new year, the festive season has passed and everyone is moving back into work and school, let's just take a moment to look back at the festive activities here in Exodus.
Saturday 20th December was the big Christmas Party, which this year was taken by Eternity Socials. Festive costumes included an overweight elf, a poor attempt at a reindeer and a baby's horse suit converted to be a reindeer hat...creativity just seems to run free within these walls.
The usual games and dances were out in force, all that 'grab your partner by the hand' lark which we do enjoy greatly (you may say you don't like socials, but you're not fooling anyone!) and as always most people went away knackered.
Those not in an active mood socialised in the lounge or chilled in Deep (which in one case actually included sleeping in the corner!) and a good nights Christmas Craic was had by all.
Then, as in the Night Before Christmas, all was quiet until...
The New Years Eve bash! doors opened up at 10pm for this special event. the next hour and 45 minutes consisted of lively tunes in the Lounge and DJ Dave's beats in Freedom. After that dancin' session, a pause was taken as Pablo addressed from the front of the Lounge with the Live Out Loud video (launch night Saturday 17th January) and then turned on the TVs for the London countdown. At Midnight we saw scenes like never before! Close to 150 people, all packed closely together in the Lounge goin' absolutely nuts, and then continuing to do so for the next half hour as DJ Dave put on a DJ set in the Lounge bar for the first time.
At 12.30, regrettably those scenes came to an abrupt end as all those aged below 18 were shown the door, some of them to go on to Pants in the Kings Hall. From 12.30 to 3am the Young Adults piled in, with Deep and the Lounge open for them. DJ Dave continued his DJing experience in the Lounge and our 20's and 30's got up on their feet. Stand-Out highlights include the two enthusiastic lads dancing close to the bar (which we enjoyed) and Pablo leading an interesting rendition of the macarena.
A thoroughly enjoyable and energetic festive programme then came to its' conclusion. Photos of the Christmas party can be found at www.eternitysocials.com for anyone wondering what that looks like (or looking to see themselves). Exodus re-opens quietly this Saturday with a Cafe Night in Deep, featuring George Gilk, and then Saturday 17th is the big teams launch night, a must for anyone considering summer teams!
We hope you had a good Christmas Break and look forward to seeing you all again in the very near future.
