It's just like a US election

Great controversy at Exodus as the Big Quiz came to a dramatic climax.

The night started off at 7.30 with 24 meeting in Exodus for the 1st time.  A good crowd came in to enjoy a real worship time and to hear what Andy Millar had to share with us.  24 usually takes place at Elmwood Presbyterian and for anyone who caught the bug on Saturday, details can be found here.

The Exodus programme got underway at the usual time with acoustic artist Luke Truman on the Lounge stage.  As we've come to expect we enjoyed yet another talented performance.  Ben then got things going with the first half of the quiz.

John and the Hedgehogs chose not to compete this time, the memory of their last bitter defeat still to painful for them.  There was no Exodus Team this time, but The bar staff team shot right into contention by the end of the first half also courtesy of a particularly strong sports round.

Luke was back on stage in the interval as the teams considered strategy.  One strategy which does not seem to work is placing your team in the reading room upstairs.  'Yon bi's in the kerner' and 'team soap' (who, for 4 young ladies, were surprisingly aggressive at being referred to as 'team soup') both had a dismal showing, infact finishing in the bottom two overall.  At one stage the soapers resorted to drawing pictures for Quizmaster Ben in an attempt to gain marks.

The last few rounds were battled out as the tension built rapidly (or at least as much as it can do for a table quiz) and in the end, Chris Agnew's team at the back was declared the winners and walked away with the mighty prize of Celebrations.  But then....

Great drama unfolds as Ian, the ever enthusiastic member of the other lead team, demands a recount!  After a few minutes of nervous waiting Ian walks away as the victorious team captain!

There is much we can learn from this night.  One, if you go up against Ian you better have dogged determination.  Also, introducing a bear to Judaism will end in tears.  And if you're competing against them in a quiz, you can be sure the Bar Staff WILL cheat.  But most importantly, you can be sure there's never a dull moment in Exodus Lisburn!

This week, we have the Eternity Socials guys back in which personally I'm looking forward to.  Also don't forget to buy your valentines formal tickets!  See you Saturday.
