Team Galacticos Provides the Entertainment
Saturday past was handed over to the Extend team to Spain who ran it as their act of kindness. Team member and resident DJ Dave McKechnie reports on proceedings.
Exodus’ very own Bruce Forsythe and expert friends led the night in their own version of the Generation Game. We had everything from eating very special delicacies to hammering nails into the lounge floor (I mean into planks of wood).
The night kicked off with an acoustic set from the very popular Kris Platt, who as usual, didn’t let us down and provided some great tunes. Bruce then entered the stage and started the night of with our expert in food, Ryan Ferris who had created some interesting delicacies in his kitchen, these included beans and oranges and some sort of gravy – not for the weak stomachs! Next up, Judith provided the challenge of whisking an egg and holding it above someone else’s head – in theory the egg should stick to the bottom of the bowl. Unfortunately, after what seemed like an eternity, one of Team Universe’s members had some runny egg on their head. Impressively though, Team Broccoli whisked the egg enough and their member survived the test.
Next up, Jason, Exodus’ newest resident balloon modeling expert set the challenge of creating a flower from two balloons. All the teams did exceptionally well, apart from Team Broccoli, who just seemed to have a couple of balloons tangled together – unlucky girls. The final game of the first session was led by Olivia in touch and feel. Four different items were to be recognized, through touch. Tasting wasn’t advised but Ian stepped up the mark and decided to taste some sardines…mmm..lovely!
In the lead after the first session were Team Universe.
Kris then provided some background music as we took a break for the teams to regroup and chill before the next set of games.
Once the teams had regrouped, it was time for Rachel to set the challenge of the groups creating a wedding dress for someone in the group to wear and model for the crowd. The standard of dresses was very high, but Team Universe stood out the most. Judith was then back on stage as the expert in creating card structures – we didn’t actually see anything built by Judith…anyway…No Handbags were well in the lead with their structure with only seconds remaining, before…you guessed it, it collapsed, leaving Team Universe again to sneak in with the win.
John “Hammer” Tougher led a member from each team in hammering nails into a piece of wood – the person too hammer the nails in the quickest…wins! One might think, getting a guy to do this task would be a good idea, but Call us butter, we’re on a roll decided to send a girl forward…obviously she didn’t win. Although once Team Broccoli where declared the winners, Call Us butter entered a complaint in saying the nails were bent…sore losers!
The final task of the night, and quite possibly the most entertaining was led by Kris Platt. Two members in each team were given part of “Brown Eyed Girl” to sing. The aim – to sing with volume and in tune. Ian took it away for Team Universe who quite simply, dazzled the crowd with their voices and their dance moves!
The “final” was of course, the conveyor belt. The top two teams, Call us Butter and Team Universe sent a team member forward to try to remember as many items as possible on the belt. Nothing was separating these teams as they both remember 10 items each. The tie-break was introduced, musical statues. Whoever moved when the music stopped lost. The atmosphere was tense as the music stopped, both competitors doing well to stay still, but unfortunately Call Us Butter couldn’t quite keep still enough! Team Universe, lived up to their name and were the best team in the universe. A great night was had by all.
After the past few weeks antics, join us next week as we take a more calm and still night, Unplugged, featuring Emma Cummings.
