Pushed out of our comfort zones
It has been a pleasure to work with alongside Exodus on our trip to Moldova. We had a thoroughly rewarding twelve days yet like any other team sometimes we went through difficult times. On the first night we arrived off the plane and a long, quite manic car journey awaited us (Moldovan roads our poor.) Anyway, after this exciting ride we arrived in a small village called Branza where we were to stay. It may have been that we were exhausted, or it simply may have been the lack of street lights but to me every Moldovan house looked strangely sinister. When our driver, Pastor Florentin parked his car in the middle of a dark field, at 4 AM, to find our host I think the whole team was slightly perplexed. We became even more uneasy when we heard some wild dogs from a nearby street. Then one of the team members mentioned that we should pray to God for protection and everything turned out all right in the end. Why have I told you this story? Well, it was through this experience that I realised that serving God requires each of us to be pushed out of our comfort zones. Thus we learnt to rely on God who provided for us in every way throughout the trip. I don't think that it is a coincidence that I read about Jesus feeding the five thousand the morning after this event. The fact that God will always provide for our needs was a valuable lesson I learnt from this amazing trip.
Yours Sincerely
Philip Johnston
