The Placement

Cork // 2nd - 12th July 2026

The Location

Republic of Ireland

The Republic of Ireland is just a short journey from Northern Ireland, but it can feel surprisingly different. It’s a place where old traditions meet a fast-changing, modern culture, and many people are navigating life without much connection to faith or community. You’ll meet welcoming people, hear new perspectives, and see both the beauty of the country and the challenges it’s facing—like housing pressures, mental-health struggles, and a growing mix of cultures. A placement here isn’t about “helping” from the outside but learning, serving alongside local communities, and discovering what it looks like to share hope and faith in a place that’s both familiar and new. Come see how adventurous and impactful a team can be without ever stepping on a plane!

The Placement Partner

Fermoy Presbyterian Church

Fermoy Presbyterian Church is a small enthusiastic church community in Fermoy, County Cork. We are more than a congregation; we are a richly diverse family made up of many cultures, backgrounds and age groups. This offers many opportunities to learn from each other as we seek to follow Christ applying God’s word to our daily lives.

We are passionate about sharing the Gospel to those around us, with particular focus on youth and children's ministry.

Throughout the year we have dedicated teams who serve the church and community by running a youth group and a kids club. A high point of these ministries is a Bible club week in the summer. This event has been run for a number of years and consists of a children’s program in the mornings, team time in the afternoons and a youth program in the evenings.

The morning program can attract up to 60 children from the wider community and the evening program facilitates and connects the youth with the church community.

The Host

Sharon Montgomery

Sharon is the Children's Ministry Coordinator and has a heart to follow Jesus and make disciples by sharing His Gospel in love to the wider community.

Sharon along with her team are committed to helping young people experience the Love of Jesus!

The core team involved in the youth and children's ministries within the church are as follows:

William Montgomery - Minister of the church
Sharon Montgomery - Children's ministry coordinator
Lee Dobson - Youth ministry coordinator
Oisin Kelly - Youth and Community Outreach Worker"

The Project

All Irish/UK adventures begin at our residential centre on the North Coast. Here, an energetic bunch of volunteers will lead you through your launch programme; two days packed full of team building, faith exploration and our annual trip to The Lake, Kilrea (fingers crossed)!

After lots of fun in Coleraine you will travel south (way south) to Fermoy in County Cork.

You'll have a long car journey ahead (remember snacks) however when you arrive, you will be welcomed by a small but growing group of Christians from a wide variety of countries and church backgrounds. Each church member recognises that they are linked by a common love for Jesus and his Word, and they are so excited to partner with an Exodus Team!

No time to wait! This could be the team that changes everything, 'a ligean dul' ("let's go" in Irish)

Location

Fermoy Presbyterian Church is located in Co. Cork
