The Placement

Romania // 16th - 26th July 2025

Welcome to Romania!

You'll arrive at Cluj airport and take the short journey to the beautiful Exodus Centre in Sutor. Upon arrival you will be welcomed by a mix of local staff and Northern Irish volunteers. You'll enjoy some great food and get stuck into the launch programme: two days alongside other Exodus teams with a programme packed full of adventure, ministry preparation, and exploring the Bible.

After completing the launch programme, you'll be partnered with a local church and serve alongside a ministry leader. You'll stay with your host, typically in a home or church hall, and join their community for the week.

Teams typically lead kids clubs, undertake practical work or visit families in need.

Romania teams are perfect if you love to embrace adventure, serve others, and immerse yourself in a new culture.

The Host

Romania

The work of Exodus in Romania was established over 20 years ago. Serving churches, young people and families, the team in Romania serve a vision share hope with others and make disciples.

Teams typically join a ministry leader for a week of children's and youth ministry, practical work and community service. Romania teams are full of opportunities to serve others, build new friendships, explore a beautiful country and make a difference.

Exodus has over 20 ministry partners within Romania and details of your exact location and host will be released later on.

Story & Staff

Exodus has been sending teams to Romania for over 25 years. Partnering with churches, young people and families, the work has developed significantly over this time.

In 2011, Exodus' base in Romania was established in a small village called Sutor. Sutor is now home to Exodus staff Agoston and Hajni along with their two children. They work alongside a range of local churches, local pastor Alin Poptelecan, and the rest of the Exodus Central & Eastern Europe team.

The Sutor centre is a hub of local ministry, hosting groups throughout the summer and serving the local community through practical work and children's clubs. During the summer, the centre takes on an international flavour with groups from across Ireland, Hungary, Latvia and other parts of Romania staying to serve in local ministries.

Location

Sutor is a small rural village in Romania surrounded by beautiful trees and countryside. The Centre can accommodate up to 60 guests in dorm style rooms, however, if you visit during an Exodus team in the summer don't be surprised if you are encouraged to try out a hammock, tent or shelter too!
