The Placement

Romania // 25th July - 5th August 2026

The Location

Welcome to Romania!

A placement in Romania is the original Exodus experience! We've been sending teams to serve our partners there for nearly 30 years, especially to the Hungarian speaking regions of Transylvania. The region is made up of many small towns and villages, which are centred around churches that act as the spiritual and social heart of their communities.

Because villages can be small, remote or rural, they often have limited access to resources, social services and community support. This creates space for our teams to serve in many ways, including social support, children's work, community building, outreach, and more.

The Placement Partner

The Exodus Sutor Centre

Your ministry partner will be our own Exodus Centre in Sutor! You'll serve alongside Agoston and his family, and partner with teams from many different countries as you reach into the communities around Sutor. This placement offers a taste of everything that makes an Exodus team fun, challenging, and life-changing!

The Host

Ágoston Szilágyi

Ágoston, joined the Exodus team in September 2017. He is the proud husband of Hajni and dad of two girls. They live in the residential centre of Exodus in Sutor, Romania. Ágoston oversees the centre and manages the volunteers helping around it.

There are two main things that he is passionate about in ministry: worship and young people. He plays the guitar and sings in a Hungarian Christian band called the Living Stones and in Cross Younity. He is committed to disciple making amongst young people, because he believes God wants to use them in an amazing way to build His Kingdom.

The Project

International Challenge Week is a really special week at Exodus, where a Northern Irish team joins together with teams of young people from Romania, Hungary, Latvia, Ukraine, and more! You'll spend time together in the mornings and evenings, and during the day you'll head out with your team to surrounding communities to serve. If you like the idea of doing something a bit different every day, and if you're excited to meet young believers from many different countries, this is a perfect placement for you!

Some of the things your team might do include:

  • Run a themed English speaking club for children
  • Share friendship and faith with teen volunteers
  • Visit families in their homes
  • Share their faith in public spaces
  • Take part in church services and family events
  • Serve in practical ways

Location

The Sutor Centre is located in the village of Sutoru in Transylvania, in the north of Romania.
