The Placement

Romania // 7th - 17th July 2026

The Location

Welcome to Romania!

A placement in Romania is the original Exodus experience! We've been sending teams to serve our partners there for nearly 30 years, especially to the Hungarian speaking regions of Transylvania. The region is made up of many small towns and villages, which are centred around churches that act as the spiritual and social heart of their communities.

Because villages can be small, remote or rural, they often have limited access to resources, social services and community support. This creates space for our teams to serve in many ways, including social support, children's work, community building, outreach, and more.

The Placement Partner

The Reformed Church of Sântăul Mic (Kisszántó)

The Reformed Church of Santăul Mic is part of the Hungarian Reformed Church and is a Hungarian speaking community.

They are a growing and active community, engaging in lots of youth and kids ministry.

The Host

Bálint Károly Zabán

Bálint is from Romania but lived in Belfast for several years as a student at Queens and minister in Ards, graduating from Union College with a BA, MA and PhD.

He now leads the church in Sântăul Mic in a growing community of people pursuing Jesus. He has hosted Exodus teams for a number of years.

The Project

The Team serving in Sântăul Mic (Kisszántó) will support the local church in a week of ministry, making a lasting impact by sharing God's love to all ages within the community.

The team will:

  • Lead a Bible themed English-speaking club for children, using games, songs, crafts and activities to keep things interactive and fun.
  • Lead a youth programme, share friendship and faith with teen volunteers
  • Visit local families and elderly people in their homes.
  • Take part in several church services, leading Sunday School for children and pre-teens, leading worship, sharing testimonies

Location

Santăul Mic is a small rural town in the northwest of Romania, near the border of Hungary. Oradea is where you would travel for shopping, dining and cultural visits.
