The Placement
Hungary // 16th - 26th July 2026
The Location
Welcome to Hungary!
Teams who travel to Hungary are warmly welcomed by our wonderful staff team there! Along with our partners, they have a desire to serve the people of Hungary, injecting life and fun into under-resourced communities and making it possible for them to run programmes like kids clubs, youth events, family fun nights, and so much more.
The Hungarian church is resilient, having survived wars, communism, depopulation, and economic hardship. Many of our communities have big dreams, but they need people like you with passion and energy to make them happen. That's where you can make a huge impact! You don't have to be an "expert" to make a difference: simply by going, you can help smaller communities do big things!
The Placement
Jászapáti Congregation
Prepare for a immersive adventure into Hungarian-Roma culture! Jászapáti is a small town in eastern Hungary, home to a Roma congregation, passionate to worship and serve its community wholeheartedly.
Jászapáti Church serves the Roma community in the town through children’s clubs, youth outreach and practical projects. All with the goal of sharing the hope and peace Jesus!
The Project
This placement is ideal for anyone who enjoys energy, teamwork, and genuine connection. You’ll take a hands-on role in leading the daily kids’ club—running sports, crafts, music, and Bible sessions for around 35 children. Each day brings something new, from football games on the local pitch to creative workshops and songs that help children remember key Biblical truths. You’ll have opportunities to play instruments, lead songs, share testimonies, and take part in Sunday worship. In the afternoons, the team will visit families, offer practical help, and build relationships within the Roma-Gypsy community. You will serve alongside local believers who are deeply committed to their community and whole-hearted in their welcome.
The team will serve the vision of Jászapáti Church by:
- Leading a week-long children’s programme filled with themed activity days:
- Sports on Monday
- Crafts on Tuesday
- Music on Wednesday
- An outing on Thursday
- Cooking/Baking on Friday.
- Running a children's programme with bible stories, craft, games, memory verses and songs.
- Visiting the homes of local families and church members.
- Participating in Church services.
- Completing small practical projects in the local community.
